Julie, Newport's Choice.

"I appreciate that great work has gone before us, ever since the settlers from the east arrived in Kentucky during the 18th century. Good work continues with our City government.

My service in the Newport, non-profit and education community, and my work as a professional genealogist, has helped me appreciate Newport’s long history and our early families who came for land and opportunity.

While Newport has grown, many are still struggling here. We have more work to do, and I hope to continue to be part of it.

"We need experienced, strong, responsible leadership to maintain the balance between development, the needs of our residents, and our environment.
From my years of first-hand knowledge of Julie’s accomplishments, I believe she is the most qualified candidate to serve in one of these open positions at this extremely significant time for the City."

"I support Dr. Julie Smith-Morrow in her bid for reelection to the City of Newport Board of Commissioners.  I observed Julie's personal commitment to improving our city's environment through our work planting trees together.  Additionally, my experiences mentoring students at Newport High School and serving as a College/Career Coach through AmeriCorps at Regional School Programs in Cold Springs, KY, resonate with Julie's dedication to our youth, demonstrated during her tenure on the Newport Board of Education.  In our affordable housing discussions, a subject I'm passionate about, Julie is open to strategic housing solutions for our community.  Through my working relationship with Dr. Smith-Morrow and as a resident of Newport, KY, I reiterate my support for her bid for reelection to the City of Newport Board of Commissioners."
